Harrison Zuckerberg is a Fantasy Football Fellowship coach and contributor. This is his weekly blog where he asks the question, is he LEEEEGIT and provides insights following Week 4. (Harrison pronounced legit as leegit one time on the podcast, and it stuck!)
As a Fantasy Manager, you may have these players on your roster or you may be trying to figure out if they are worth acquiring on the Waiver Wire.
Justin Fields
At first, I wasn’t going to include Justin Fields on this list because I assumed he would have already been rostered in every fantasy league since Week 1. However, it turns out he’s only rostered in 30% of leagues! Despite losing this weekend to the Colts, Fields is coming off his best game as a Steeler, with over 350 yards and 3 total touchdowns. Unless Fields completely implodes, I don't see Russell Wilson taking the starting job from him anytime soon. As long as Fields remains the starter, he is LEGIT for fantasy. As we've seen with guys like Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts, his rushing upside alone makes him a top-10 weekly QB.
Kareem Hunt
I understand that Kareem Hunt wasn’t on an NFL roster just two weeks ago, but I was surprised that more fantasy managers didn’t pick him up last week after he signed with Kansas City. In Hunt's first game back with the Chiefs, he led the running backs in snaps, attempts, and rushing yards. It’s clear that Hunt has the most trust with this coaching staff and honestly looked like the most explosive runner on the team, despite his age. Perine and Steele will still mix in, but Hunt is the guy and is LEGIT until Isaiah Pacheco returns from injury. With all of the Chiefs' injuries at wide receiver (no one can ever roast Cam Newton again for not diving on the fumble in Super Bowl 50 — we just saw how well it ends when a QB tries to make a defensive play, thanks Patrick Mahomes), I wouldn’t be surprised if Hunt continues to have a role once Pacheco returns.
Trey Sermon
Sermon hasn’t been a factor for the Colts this year, but Jonathan Taylor left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. In addition, Anthony Richardson was also replaced by Joe Flacco. I’m getting a lot of déjà vu from last season, where injuries to Richardson and Taylor led to a breakout for career backup Zach Moss. If Taylor misses time, I think lightning could strike twice, and Sermon is LEGIT for fantasy.
Dontayvion Wicks
In Jordan Love’s return, Wicks led the Packers with 13 targets and had a great game. We know Wicks has talent, as he was one of the league leaders in yards per route run last year, but he just needed more opportunities. Now, with another injury to Christian Watson, Wicks is locked in as a top-3 receiver on the team for at least the next few weeks and is LEGIT going forward.
Taysom Hill
Taysom Hill continues to be the king of touchdown vultures and boom-or-bust fantasy production. Despite rushing for two TDs this week, Hill is NOT LEGIT for fantasy. I’m sure there will be a few more games this season where he does this, but it’s most likely going to be impossible to predict which week it will happen. Chances are, the week Hill is in your starting lineup, he’ll have 4 carries for 20 yards and 2 fantasy points, and then the next week after you bench him, he’ll have 3 carries for 6 yards, 3 TDs, and 18 fantasy points.
