Michael Pittman Jr. Fantasy Forecast

In 2021 Michael Pittman Jr. quietly had a breakout sophomore season cementing himself as the Colts’ top receiver. He caught 88 passes for over 1,000 yards and 6 touchdowns, and finished the fantasy season as WR 17. However, this is just the beginning for Pittman. Going into 2022 his fantasy ceiling will be even higher.

We already know that Pittman is an extremely talented receiver. In 2021 he finished 4th in the NFL in route win percentage and 8th in win rate versus man coverage. However, his dominance in beating coverage was not always showcased as his target accuracy rating ranked 55th in the NFL (a stat that measures the accuracy of passes thrown to Pittman). Overall, Pittman’s quarterback in 2021, Carson Wentz, was 31st in overall pass accuracy rating. But now the Colts have Matt Ryan taking over. Ryan finished 8th in the NFL in pass accuracy rating and 2nd in deep ball accuracy last year.

In addition, Matt Ryan has a history of generating amazing fantasy seasons for his top receiver. During his 14 years in the NFL, the number one target in a Matt Ryan led offense finished the season with, on average, 96 receptions for 1388 yards - and has never finished a season with less than 1,000 yards. I believe that, barring injury, it is inevitable Michael Pittman Jr. finishes the year as a top 10 fantasy wide receiver, despite the fact that his average draft position (ADP) is currently in the 4th and 5th rounds of fantasy drafts.
