Pounding the Table

Updated: Sep 13

As fantasy managers, we love to “pound the table” for our favorite players. We get excited to passionately tell our friends why they should take certain players in their fantasy drafts, and how those decisions will lead them to success.

Though we at Fantasy Football Fellowship acknowledge that we are not always right, here are four players that we are “pounding the table” for this season.

D.K. Metcalf

If you talk to many fantasy players, they will tell you that Metcalf had a disappointing season for the Seahawks in 2023. However, many people seem to be forgetting that he finished the year as a top 20 receiver in fantasy in spite of what was perceived to be a down campaign. Metcalf is currently being drafted as the WR20, and it seems like there is very little chance that he would finish any worse than that, barring injury. Seattle has made some changes on offense that should benefit Metcalf’s ability to produce even more big plays in the passing game. If you can snag Metcalf in the third round of your draft, you are going to be very happy with the production that he gives you this season.

Amon-Ra St. Brown

Here is a bold prediction: Amon-Ra St. Brown will be the highest-scoring non-quarterback in fantasy football this year. Nobody is denying the obvious fact that St. Brown is an incredibly talented receiver, and things are setting up perfectly for him to take another huge step forward in 2024. With the way that the Lions’ schedule shakes out, St. Brown will not have to play an outdoor game until week 14. Given how fast Detroit’s offense plays indoors, the Lions should be putting up plenty of points, with St. Brown being the primary beneficiary from the offensive output.

Kimani Vidal

I am going off of the beaten path for this one, but I truly believe in Vidal’s abilities. He was a standout player in college for Troy a year ago, rushing for over 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns. The sixth round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is currently listed as fourth on the Chargers’ depth chart, but don’t expect him to stay there long. Vidal has been turning heads in camp, and Jim Harbaugh has had some really good things to say about his vision and elusiveness. This one may take some time to pan out, but I am all in on the fact that Vidal is going to be a key contributor by the time the season finishes.

Diontae Johnson

The Panthers were terrible a year ago, yet Adam Thielen was still able to put up some pretty nice fantasy numbers (over 100 receptions). With Thielen yet another year older, I think this is the year that Johnson becomes “the guy” in Carolina’s offense. The Panthers still are unlikely to be good in 2024, but they should be improved on offense. Johnson has been productive in the past with mediocre quarterback play, and he is stepping into what should be an even more prominent role in the Carolina offense. If you can draft him to be your fourth receiver, I think you will be very happy with the way he ends up producing.
