Don’t Sleep On These Fantasy Players
Every fantasy season, there are always numerous players who are overlooked and undervalued in drafts for one reason or another.
As a fantasy manager, if you are able to capitalize on targeting the players who are being undervalued at their position, it can go a long way towards helping you to concoct a successful season.
Here is a look at three players that you definitely do not want to sleep on as you make your final preparations for your fantasy drafts.
Quarterback - Kirk Cousins (Current ADP: QB18)
How quickly people forget that Cousins has been a very good quarterback in the league for quite some time now. The two main concerns that people seem to have about Cousins for the upcoming season are the fact that he is coming off of an achilles injury and that he will be starting in an Atlanta offense that is likely to feature Bijan Robinson. All reports out of camp, however, are that Cousins has been going at full speed and will be ready to go for week one. Considering that he has never been much of a runner, don’t expect last season’s injury to have much of an impact on his ability to produce. While the Falcons certainly plan to make Robinson the focus of the offense, there will still be plenty of opportunities for Cousins to make plays with his arm. At this point, Cousins is one of the prime candidates for being a player who could start the year on fantasy benches before ultimately playing his way into the starting lineup.
Running Back - Nick Chubb (Current ADP: RB28)
It is hard to believe that many people used a first round pick on Chubb in last year’s drafts considering where he is currently going in 2024. The obvious concern about Chubb is the knee injury that ended his 2023 campaign before it could really ever get going. Initially, the thought was that Chubb may miss the first few games of the season, which would have obviously decreased his fantasy value. In recent weeks, though, it has been looking increasingly likely that Chubb will be ready to go for the start of the regular season. Even if he does end up dressing for the opener, some people still have concerns about how he will actually perform given the serious nature of his injury. There is no doubt that Chubb is a definite “boom or bust” type of pick, but the risk is definitely worth it considering where you might be able to take him in your draft.
Wide Receiver: Mike Evans (Current ADP: WR15)
It seems like people have been expecting Evans to take a step back for a couple of years now, but he simply continues to produce. Evans finished last season ninth in the league in receiving yards (1,255) and tied for first in receiving touchdowns (13). Baker Mayfield has always had a bit of “gun slinger” in him, which benefits Evans greatly since he is an elite downfield threat due to his tremendous size and athleticism. In fantasy drafts, it is really easy to get caught up in the flashy players who are just emerging onto the scene. But never forget that there is tremendous value in going with guys who have been consistently produced over a handful of seasons. At this point, it is tough to say that Evans is being totally overlooked, but it does seem fair to say that his past production warrants him being selected earlier than he has been going thus far in 2024.
